New Sponsor: The Whitehurst Company

Sponsor.

We'd love to welcome a new sponsor on board at Hip Hostess, The Whitehurst Company. Family run by a father and daughter team, The Whitehurst Company wholesale/sell colored glass ornaments to gift shops, painters, designers, and individuals.

Now why should you be excited about "Christmas ornaments" in April? Because glass ornaments should not be limited to December. In event and home decor, I love to take something outside of it's normal element to create pop or visual interest. Glass ornaments are a great example of something that can do just that. Here are some of my favorite images of decorating with ornaments in a very Un-Christmasy sort of way:

And because Whitehurst offers over 115 colors in 3 different finishes, you can definitely customize a very unique centerpiece or focal display at any themed event.

And if you are planning a wedding or major event in December, there is no need to wait around until November to see what options will be available at the local Target or Walmart. Prepare in advance by shopping at Whitehurst.

Which has me thinking...wouldn't customized ornaments be a lovely favor for a December wedding???

Storkie

Sponsor Love.

We recently checked in with one of wonderful longtime sponsors, Storkie.com, to see what's new in their wedding invitation and save the date card offerings and we found some really fun stuff.

I am LOVING these laser cut invitations that could not be more on trend right now, as I've also been drooling over laser cut leather shoes and bags for Spring 2011. And for a bold twist on this same look, it's also available in black. Gorgeous.

And for a new twist on pocket-style invitations, this beauty is a frame of white with two lace-like accents on the side that hold in your wedding invite insert. This is shown with a traditional silver insert, but i think a bold color would look fabulous against that white border accent.

And for a little whimsy, Storkie also offers some great illustration Save the Date Cards that are a wonderful way to set the tone for your big day. Because I have shoes on the brain this week, I'm loving these two below that show off some cobbler creativity for both a formal or casual event.

New Sponsor: Magnet Street

Invitations and wedding paper purveyor.

In the world of weddings, we all want something unique. We might adore what someone else has done and be inspired, but ours has to be different at the same time. Unfortunately, being unique and different can often come at a lofty price.

Our newest sponsor, Magnet Street, can definitely help in your search for wedding individuality. Their site is filled to the brim with invitation designs that can be customized to fit your distinct color scheme. Flat cards, pocket invites, tri-fold, and many more options are available. And the prices are VERY reasonable...especially for all of the flexibility that you have in customization. Here are some of my favorite designs (I love a square invitation)...

And besides the basic invites, Magnet Street offers components that will complete your wedding invitation and reception paper needs. Address Labels, table numbers, place cards, and much much more.

And of course there is their namesake product...magnets. They are a great option for Save the Dates. Instead of getting lost in the ubiquitous pile of mail, these guys will be a constant reminder of fun times to come on your wedding day when your guest go to the fridge for a late night snack.

New Sponsor: Freak Music

Band Hire Agency.

Anyone that has been to a wedding or party that has the stereotypical cheesy DJ, can attest to the fact that the right kind of music is essential to a successful event. For me, the second the Chicken Dance hits the air, I hit the door.

This is why Freak Music is so entirely cool...and important. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, Freak Music is an agency that reps over 300 of the very best bands from all different genres. And their website is so amazing. You can listen to samples of the bands' music and quickly send in a pricing request. It goes directly to the band...ensuring a quicker response time and best price. How nice is that?

And quite possibly my favorite feature is that they have an "emergency band replacement policy". So if something goes awry, you don't have to scramble to find that cheesy DJ just to have some music. Freak Music will just tap into their list of 300+ bands and find you a stellar replacement.

So...if you are in the UK/Scotland or if you are a planning a destination wedding in that area, you really should check this company out. It will save you so many hours of searching and stress worrying about the Cha Cha Slide and Chicken Dance.

New Sponsor: Storkie.Com

Oh boy...more paper to love.

Our newest sponsor, Storkie.com, has an amazing array of customizable invitations and cards to choose from. And we're not talking about customizing just the font types and colors. Storkie's dynamic designs allow you to customize the graphics too. I had so much fun playing with these two adorable invites to create unique color schemes and graphics. And I'm pretty sure that you will too.

Check out Storkie.com for everything from bridal and baby showers, to party invites, to custom stamps to match your design.
