Easy Entertaining Idea.
I love Fall…the fresh crisp air and the slightly chilly evenings. I always get a little saddened at the end of summer but then I think about all the fun things that fall brings, autumn leaves, pumpkins, apples and light sweaters. I also always look forward to planning new seasonal entertaining menus.
Fall entertaining usually makes one think of warm comfort food filled with lots of hearty root vegetables. This can be a little more labor intensive than your light summer fare.
One thing that helps balance the workload is this easy, unique dessert tray. Place a slab of Robiola which is an Italian soft-ripened cheese made with varying proportions of cow’s, goat’s milk and sheep milk on a cheese board or slate. Add a stack of lightly toasted bread slices. Then place two small bowls on the board, one with Nutella (chocolate-hazelnut spread) and the other with course sea salt. Guests can make their own chocolate, cheese crostini topped off with a sprinkle of sea salt.
The presentation is beautiful, sophisticated an easy and the dessert is a delicious balance of sweet and salty. You could serve your dessert tray next to a French press or a pretty decanter of dessert wine.
